HISTORY

 

Christ the King Polytechnic College, Coimbatore, started in the year 1985, is promoted and run by the R.C. diocese of Coimbatore. The R.C. Bishop of Coimbatore Diocese, His Excellency The Most Rev.Dr.L.Thomas Aquinas,M.A.,D.D.,D.C.L., is the Chairman and Very Rev.Fr.John Joseph Stanis is the Correspondent and Dr.A.Antony Fernandez is the Principal.

The College is situated at a distance of 16kms to the south of the Coimbatore city in calm and congenial surrounding with the Coimbatore - Pollachi highway running on the East. The College has an extensive area of 18 acres. The College offers 7 Diploma Programmes viz., Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology and Automobile Engineering

 

EMERGENCE AND MILESTONES

1985 Inception of St.Joseph’s Christian Educational Social and Charitable Trust.
1985 Emergence of CHRIST THE KING POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE offering Diploma courses in Civil, Mechanical and Electronics and Communication Engineering.
1986 College building constructed in an area of 18 acres
1986 Six class rooms & four Laboratories constructed.
1987 Three more Laboratories constructed.
1989 Lab infrastructure upgraded.
1990 A pond with the statue of St. Joseph beautified the front yard
1992 Open air auditorium constructed.
1993 Football ground.
1994 Playgrounds for Hockey, Volleyball & Basket ball.
1995 Introduction of Diploma course in Computer Engineering.
1997 Construction of Second Floor.
1998 Students hostel established.
1998 Introduction of Diploma course in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
1999 Gallery hall and Mini Auditorium constructed.
2000 Electronics lab, Computer center, CNC training center and English Communication lab established.
2001 First floor of Sirumalar Illam constructed.
2003 Introduction of Diploma course in Information Technology.
2003 Students strength in Mechanical branch increased to 90.
2003 Auto cad lab established.
2005 Introduction of Diploma course in Automobile Engineering.
2006 Basic Science Block completed.
2006 Students strength in Mechanical branch increased to 120.
2007 BCS Lab Established.
2009 New Hostel Building completed.
2009 Two wheeler parking in a larger area.
2009 VLSI Lab established
2010 Automobile Workshop-I constructed.
2011 Automobile Workshop-II constructed.
2011 Foundation stone laid for Auditorium
2011 Solar water heater facility upgraded
2011 Installation of CCTV facility in the Campus
2012 Students strength in Mechanical branch increased to180.
2012 Students strength in Automobile branch increased to 60
2013 Completion of Blessed JOHN PAUL II Auditorium with a seating capacity of 1500
2014 Introduction of Smart classrooms
2015 Purchase of 2 more Buses - 2 New Routes
2016 New Entrance Arch Constructed.
2017 Installation of 30KW Solar plant in the campus
2017 Construction of Rainwater Harvesting Chamber
2018 Purchase of 2 new buses
2018 Gallery Hall upgraded to Air-Conditioned Conference Hall
